Highville Charter, a 501(c) (3), is an enterprising and caring community charter school with a strong parent and community involvement. Our main goal is to prepare and instill a desire for all learners to confidently use technology, think globally, develop globally conscious citizenship, and utilize world languages and cultures as the basis for launching learners on their voyage as responsible navigators.

Connecticut Saves (www.ConnecticutSaves.org is a social marketing campaign focused on encouraging Connecticut residents to assess their saving and take positive action toward reaching their financial goals. America Saves Week and Connecticut Saves Week will take place February 27th through March 4th. The Saves Campaign is very active from February 1st through April 30th.

New Haven/Leon SCP depends on volunteers and interns for much of what it does to promote education, public health and poverty reduction in Nicaragua and Connecticut. Below is a list of volunteer needs here in New Haven at our Whitney Avenue office. We are ESPECIALLY looking for people who could be involved a few hours a month ove a longer time period.
We generally match up volunteers with projects/tasks depending on their skills and availability. Needs include:
Volunteers will do light maintenance work around the center such as mopping the gym floor/cafeteria floor, sweeping, dusting, wiping windows, sanitize the railings/doorknobs, and changing light bulbs. Volunteers can also clean classroom toys and other equipments.
We need help with planting vegetables and flowers in our preschool garden as well as weeding it. We are trying to promote healthy eating to the children so by growing our own vegetables we can teach them how they grow and even get to taste them too.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of International Festival of Arts & Ideas. For two weeks in June and throughout the year, over 300 volunteers from the greater New Haven region and beyond bring the Festival to life.
