Literacy Tutor

AARP Experience Corps - Greater New Haven needs volunteers to tutor literacy with young children in participating elementary schools for 10+hours/week. Volunteers also attend community events throughout the year to promote reading. Training and regular support/supervision are provided.

Experience Corps is a program of the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut and a proud member of the National Service Network (AmeriCorps).


Volunteer Requirements: 
Volunteers must: be age 50+, have a high school diploma or equivalent, pass a background check using fingerprints, be able to demonstrate good reading and writing skills, commit to volunteer for at least one year, enjoy being with young children. Volunteers participate in training before tutoring and monthly throughout school year.
