Highville Charter, a 501(c) (3), is an enterprising and caring community charter school with a strong parent and community involvement. Our main goal is to prepare and instill a desire for all learners to confidently use technology, think globally, develop globally conscious citizenship, and utilize world languages and cultures as the basis for launching learners on their voyage as responsible navigators.
Compassus Hospice is currently recruiting volunteers in New Haven and Fairfield counties.
We are looking for dedicated individuals to visit with our patients where they reside; ie skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, private homes. We are also in need of people who would like to help out in our office with clerical functions. We are asking for a minimum of 1 hour a week commitment.
Our volunteers offer a variety of services dependent on our patients needs and desires.
Help young students 3 times a week as a literacy tutor in a Hamden or East Haven elementary school or at a New Haven after-school program and

Volunteers are needed to enhance the quality of life for VNA Community Healthcare’s Hospice patients and their families. The century old nonprofit home healthcare agency is seeking volunteers in: Complementary Therapies (Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, Pet Therapy, Activities (art & music), Patient/Caregiver Companions (companionship, errands, light housekeeping, respite), Administrative Support, Bereavement Support, Spiritual Support and Pet Companions (dog walking, pet feeding and clean up.)
We’re always looking for people eager to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time. And, right now is no different. Big Brothers are in high demand. So, Start Something.
For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a Little the invaluable gift of your friendship. By simply changing their perspective of what the world can offer, you can literally start changing their lives. And sometimes it’s as simple as playing video games, going to a museum, or just hanging out together.
AARP Experience Corps - Greater New Haven needs volunteers to tutor literacy with young children in participating elementary schools for 10+hours/week. Volunteers also attend community events throughout the year to promote reading. Training and regular support/supervision are provided.
JOIN EXPERIENCE CORPS AND:
Drive a senior to and from medial appointment. IVCG serves the following towns: Hamden, New Haven, North Haven East Haven, Branford, Guilford West Haven, Milford, Orange Woodbridge, Bethany, Wallingford
One volunteer (per day) is needed to ride with the Kids' Backpack driver Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the school year. Volunteers may apply for one or more days a week but must be available each week. The right volunteer must be able to lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Each day's route runs between 4-6 hours. Point of departure and return is always Connecticut Food Bank's Fairfield Warehouse, 74 Linwood Avenue.
We are in need of a volunteer to assist in a fast moving Procurement Department. The volunteer will be trained to work in and run reports from the food bank computer program (Ceres) and the position will involve lots of work with both data entry and report running and working with the reports. The selected volunteer will also answer phones, make calls and work on other projects as needed. The Volunteer is needed twice a week for 3-4 hours each visit. There is some flexibility as to the days and times.
There are many seniors and Veterans in our community who could benefit from a weekly visit or an hour or two just to sit and talk.
Could you offer that? Or even a ride to the grocery store and to the doctors?
Children In Placement is a non-profit organization that trains local volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in foster care.
If you are a former Family Caregiver who has taken care of an ill, frail or elderly loved one the Caregiver Support Network of VNA Community Healthcare needs you!
Do you wish you knew then what you know now? Are you willing to share the wisdom of what you learned while taking care of a family member with someone who is currently doing the same?
Volunteers are needed to: to call first and second time parents and provide support, education and resources. Training on child development will be provided.
